About this event
Lithium-Ion (Li-ion) batteries are key enablers for the E-Mobility transition. These batteries offer excellent performance parameters for energy storage and discharge and are a critical component of many Energy Storage Systems. However, these batteries are still stored energy reserves. The uncontrolled release of this energy during a thermal runaway of the battery cell poses significant safety and fire risk. Thermal runway of the battery is often accompanied by the release of toxic gas, fire, jet flames, and explosion hazards which present unique exposures to consumers, workers, and emergency response personnel. Understanding this risk is key to ensuring the safe design and handling of Li-ion batteries.
